Code of Criminal Procedure(CCP)-Chapter 62, Sex Offender Registration Program
Convicted sex offenders are required to register with local law enforcement in the jurisdiction in which they live. The Kendall County Sheriff's Office registers these individuals. Information regarding sex offenders who register with the Kendall County Sheriff's Office is provided to the Texas Department of Public Safety. The Texas Department of Public Safety maintains the public information regarding these offenders.
Registered sex offenders who live in the county are required to report to the Kendall County Sheriff's Office to verify the accuracy of the registration information and to promptly report certain changes in the information as those changes occur. A sex offender who does not comply with the registration requirements are subject to prosecution.
The Texas Sex Offender Registration Program was enacted on September 1, 1991. Since It's creation the Texas Sex Offender Registration Program has been strengthened by the legislature every legislative session. These changes have added additional criminal offenses requiring registration, lengthened the time period sex Offenders have to register, provided for community notification of sex offenders, and have increased the criminal penalties for the failure to comply with the registration requirements.
