On Monday November 23, 2009 the fifth grade class of Comfort Elementary School celebrated its D.A.R.E. Graduation as family members, school officials and community leaders were on hand to observe.
The Kendall County Sheriff's Office sponsored the D.A.R.E. program in cooperation with the Comfort Independent School District.
The D.A.R.E. (Drug Awareness Resistance Education) Program is an internationally acclaimed anti-drug abuse program that teaches students skills in dealing with negative peer pressure. "This program positively impacts juvenile delinquency and open lines of communication between our youth and law enforcement" stated Kendall County Sheriff Roger Duncan.
Deputy Cindy Caasi was the instructor and presented the curriculum to the 93 fifth grade students during the last nine weeks. The classes are designed to assist the children on how to say no to bullying, drugs, and alcohol.
