This year will bring a new look for deputies at the Kendall County Sheriff's Office. On July 3, 2009, Sheriff's deputies will boast their new uniforms. Sheriff Roger Duncan says the new look is not just a change in appearance but a change to a more modern uniform.

Deputies approached Sheriff Duncan last year about the possibility of making changes to the uniforms that were more wearer friendly that would assist in performing their duties each day.

Research was conducted and the staff was queried about possible changes. The uniform suggestions were recently presented to the Sheriff's Citizen's Advisory Board who unanimously approved of the new uniforms. After seeing the overwhelmingly recommendation Sheriff Duncan approved the change.

The new uniform will consist of a tan shirt with yellow embossed, dark shoulder epaulets and the pants will be a dark colored BDU or Tactical style 6-pocket approved trousers. Classic uniform style trousers with a tan and yellow stripe along the outer seam of the pant legs will be worn for official functions or ceremonies.

"All of the staff is excited about the new look and it's already been a big morale booster," stated Sheriff Duncan. "This change is obviously about more than a new look, it's about the professionalism and taking pride in our work on the streets".

Funding for the new uniforms will be provided with the use of seized asset forfeiture funds and no tax payer dollars will be used for the conversion to the new uniforms.
