Kendall County comprises roughly 662 square miles of rolling hill country terrain in south central Texas , thirty miles northwest of San Antonio along Interstate 10. Kendall County was created by the legislature of the State of Texas in 1862 by dividing Kerr and Blanco counties.
Communities in the county are Boerne, Fair Oaks Ranch, Sisterdale, Kendalia, Waring, Welfare, Bergheim and Comfort. Originally settled by German immigrants, who were ranchers and farmers, Kendall County now offers the character of a rural community with proximity to a major metropolitan area. San Antonio is minutes away. Kendall County is quickly growing in population, industry and tourism. Kendall County is known for warmth and hospitality and touts a population of approximately 33,000 residents.
